The Newest Family Member

Meet Uma! She is a 16 month old Alaskan Malmute that we are adopting from an animal shelter. I am going back to pick her up today. Uma is a sweet, very happy lady, and we can't wait for you to meet her!
Tristan has been waiting his whole life to have a dog, but was always told that we had to own our own home first. Well, the day has finally arrived!

Getting Closer

James made huge progress on the kitchen, and built the floor cabinets. You can see here the corner cooktop unit, the sink, and the dishwasher cabinet. The island (not shown) is complete except for the 12 drawers. To think he got this much done while alone with the 2 younger children all weekend!!

The Blues Room

I'm 98% done painting the kitchen. All that is left is some touch up. The first photo shows the three colors; sapphire blue, light blue and white.
The second photo is the corner for the stove top.
Third photo will be the home of the dishwasher.
Next is where the island will be placed between the two rooms, and last is the wall for the oven and fridge.

The new stainless steel fridge and dishwasher were delivered today. As soon as we get 6-7 coats of tung oil on all the butcher block counter tops, we will be ready to install everything!

Kitchen Update #2

Phil the Plaster Guy has been here for the last two days doing his thing. He will finish tomorrow by sanding all the walls in the kitchen so they are smooth and ready for paint. The living areas of the house are full of dust and plaster. It's going to take me a few days to clean up the mess, but we will be that much closer to our lovely new kitchen.
James and I unpacked the three butcher block counter tops. They all need to be sanded and oiled a few times to seal them.

Sometime this week, I'll go to the "decorating center" in town for some primer and some paint. Maybe they can help us to select a color for the adjacent dining room walls.

Kitchen Progress #1

Here, you can see the sheetrock that James installed. He removed the old exhaust fan from the ceiling, and can be seen in the first photo peaking at the kids from the attic.
